
Tavo was born in 1930 in Los Angeles. He later moved to Monterey county where he earned his Associates degree. Tavo came of age during a defining period in American history. As a young man, he answered his country’s call and proudly served two years in the Korean War as a radio operator. His steady hand and sharp mind helped keep vital lines of communication open during challenging conditions. In recognition of his service and dedication, he was awarded the following medals: The National Defense Service Medal, The United Nations Service Medal, The Korean Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal. Honors he accepted with humility, rarely speaking of his accomplishments.
After returning home, Tavo built a long and respected career in the automotive industry. He combined technical skill with an honest work ethic that earned the trust of customers and colleagues alike. Over the years, he owned and operated automotive businesses in Santa Rosa and Livermore, California becoming a familiar and dependable presence in both communities. Later, he continued sharing his expertise as a long time employee at Santa Rosa Auto Parts, where his knowledge, patience and willingness to help were appreciated by generations of customers and coworkers.
His joy was spent with loved ones. His stories, quiet humor , infectious laugh and unwavering reliability will be deeply missed.
Tavo’s life was one of service - to his country, his community and his loved ones. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and in the examples he set: that honor, dedication and kindness are true measures of a life well lived.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie G. Andrade as well as his two daughters , Karen (Tim Sullivan) and Laura (Brett Fugitt); three grandsons, Ryan (Rachel) Sullivan, Reed Sullivan and Cole (Karla) Fugitt; and two great grandchildren, Kai Fugitt and Romy Sullivan with a third due in March. The latter part of his life was spent in Florida where he enjoyed many years with Remy Mercado.
A service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 10:30 am at Resurrection Catholic Church in Jacksonville. Reception to be announced. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life.
