Byron E Kirkland, 81, of Jacksonville passed away after a brief illness on Friday January 17, 2014. He was born in Chipley, Florida, where he resided until 1953.He was employed by Winn Dixie Corporation where he retired after 32 years of dedicated service. He was an active member of New Life Baptist Church where he faithfully worked the sound room, ushered and contributed time to VBS for many years. Byron is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Meyrline Kirkland, his two daughters Rita Cope (Mark) and Lisa Johnson (Scott) and two granddaughters, Sabrina and Victoria. He loved gardening and watching Jaguar games. Byron will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 from 5 pm until 7 pm at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 1:00 pm at New Life Baptist Church, 6680 Seaboard Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32244. Interment will follow the funeral service at Riverside Memorial Park.
