

Carlota "Lindita" Ortiz, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025 at the age of 89. She was surrounded by her loving family at home in Jacksonville, Florida.
Born on November 3, 1935 in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Lindita was the daughter of Nicolas Echeverria and Yolanda Campana; and older sister of Nely Quintanilla.
Throughout her life, Lindita was a source of unwavering love, strength, and guidance to her family and friends. She married Alberto Ortiz on a beautiful July afternoon. Together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. Together they raised 4 children [Freddy Villavicencio(Monica Villavicencio), Iliana Stanley(Kevin Stanley), Monica Williams, and Carlos Ortiz].
Lindita had a passion for shopping and traveling, which she enjoyed with great enthusiasm. She was also known for her sewing - especially for making her granddaughters matching Christmas outfits.
In addition to her children, Lindita is survived by 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who were touched by her warmth and kindness.
She is preceded by her loving husband Alberto "Papi" Ortiz, her daughter Marcelita Ortiz, and grandson Johnthan Medlock.
A viewing to honor Carlota's life will be held at Hardage - Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home - 850 St Johns Bluff Rd N, Jacksonville, FL 32225. A private viewing for the family will begin on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 5:30 PM EST, then opening to all of her dear friends at 6:30 PM EST.
A Mass to honor and celebrate her will be held at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church - 10472 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32246 - on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM EST.
Dear God, we come before you today with heavy hearts, grieving the loss of our beloved mom. You are the source of all comfort, and we ask that you draw near to us in our deep sorrow.
We thank you for the beautiful life of our mother. We remember her love, her sacrifice, and the countless ways she inspired us. Please grant her eternal peace and joy in your loving presence.
Lord, please provide comfort and strength to our family as we navigate this profound grief. Soothe our pain, strengthen our weakness, and give us hope in the face of our confusion. Help us to find moments of joy amidst the sadness and to honor her cherished memories.
May we carry her legacy of love forward, becoming beans of light for others we trust in your promise and pray for grace and peace to abound in our lives.
