Catherine Mari Ippolito passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of July 12, 2020. She was born October 5, 1962 to Bob and Audrey Brown in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania. Her son, Buddy, was born in December of 1980 followed by her son Mike in August of 1982. She married the lover of her life, David Ippolito, on April 24, 1999.
Cathy was a wonderful, caring, giving soul. No one was more generous with their time, love, or resources. If someone was in need of something, anything, Cathy was the first to step up and help in any way she could. From her grandchildren to her parents, she helped take care of everyone.
A favorite pastime of Cathy’s was crocheting. She made a little bit of everything, but her most prized items were blankets. She made one for every grandchild! She also spent a good deal of time collecting and making dolls.
Whenever they could, David and Cathy loved to get away to the beach, especially the Gulf Coast. The beach was a sacred place to her, a place she felt the most at peace. Nothing was better to her thank her toes in the sand and a beer in her hand!
On April 17, 2020, Cathy suffered a grade five-brain aneurysm. Divine intervention provided a competent EMS team who recognized the urgent need for neurological professionals. She was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where teams of surgeons were waiting. What followed was a nearly three-month long fight for her life, and fight she did. With bravery, valiance, and determination, she held on for so long. She spent her last days exactly where she wanted to be, at home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Cathy is survived by her mother; Audrey, her husband; David, her sons; Buddy and Mike, her grandchildren; Star, Claudia, Kaleb, Grace, and Isabella, as well as seven loving brothers and devoted sisters. She was preceded in death by her father, Bob.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, July 16, 2020 in Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home at 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd. North, Jacksonville, FL 32225.
