

Charlie Daniel (Dan) Thigpen, Jr. passed away on August 28, 2010 just after his 54th birthday. Dan was born in Orange Park, Florida on August 12, 1956. He was a loving and beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend.
Dan was a man who loved the Lord Jesus with all of his heart. He loved his family and friends and would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. He loved people and he never met a stranger. Dan was a man of integrity and honor. He thought a man was only as good as his word, and he was a man who kept his. He honored his parents and loved them dearly.
Dan retired from CSX Railroad as a locomotive engineer after 24 years. He was proud of his job and loved to drive those trains. After retirement he pursued one of his favorite pastimes which was buying, selling and trading. He loved to make a good deal, but he loved his Gator football even more.
Dan is survived by his beautiful wife, Ruth; his 3 three children, Kelly, Kevin (Robin), and Kristen (Dustin); his father, Charlie and his brother Steve (Tina); 7 nephews and 2 nieces; and many other loving family members. Dan is preceded in death by his Mother, Betty and his brother Larry.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 31st from 6pm - 8pm at Town and Country Funeral Home 7242 Normandy Blvd. Jax, FL. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 1st at 10am at Promise Land Baptist Church 2197 Blair Road. Jacksonville, FL.
Dan was a wonderful man and he will be missed by many.
