Cynthia (Cindy) Anne Newton Schafer was born August 12, 1940 in Rahway, New Jersey and passed away March 3, 2021 in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 80. She moved to Jacksonville with her family when she was 3 years old. She attended John Gorrie Jr High where she was a Majorette and she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1959. During her High School years she was a member of the girls’ school softball team for 3 years where her main position was catcher. After graduation, she obtained an accounting job where she maintained a career in this field as well as a Parts Coordinator for Irvington Moore Dry Kiln Company for approximately 45 years before enjoying retirement. Cindy loved the Lord and loved her family and friends dearly. She volunteered at church over the years working in Vacation Bible School, in the Food Pantry, Cleaning, assisted in the kitchen for events, worked in the Children’s Church and on the Personnel Committee and was very involved with the Annual Operation Christmas Child Project. She loved making crafts for her family and friends, walking on the beach, collecting shark’s teeth and most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends shopping, going out to eat and going to church. Cindy was a very giving person and will be greatly missed by all who have had the pleasure of being in her life. We now take solace in knowing she has entered the gates of Heaven and is walking with the Lord and those that have gone before her.
