Danny L. Burger

Danny was born on December 5, 1946 to Williams P. and Juanita M. Burger in Dayton, Ohio. He graduated from Terry Parker High school in 1965. Upon graduation Danny joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. In 1973 he became a 32nd degree member of the William B. Barnett Lodge #187 in Jacksonville, Florida. He joined the Jacksonville Sheriff’s office on January2, 1971 as a correctional officer and later transitioned to patrol after graduation from the police academy in February of 1972. Danny served as a JSO patrolman, SWAT team member as a sniper and even on the JSO dive team. He retired in 1994 after 23 years of service.

He virtually attended Christian Fellowship Temple in Macclenny, Florida faithfully. Danny loved to fish, hunt, work on cars and cook for his friends and family.

Danny is survived by his wife of 54 years; JoAnne, his sons; David (Veronica) of Johnson City, Tennessee, Stephen (Nola) of Jacksonville, Florida and John Traum (Susan) of Pike Road, Alabama, sister; Kristine Taylor of Jacksonville, Florida, Grandchildren; Marcus (Abbee), Chris (Madison), Brittany (Ethan) and Abigail, two great-grandchildren; Averee Grace and Garrison Luke, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Danny will be held Monday, January 6, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, followed by a graveside service at 1:00 PM.
