

Dioscora Nunez Miclat (Nanay) was born December 14, 1933 in Caridad, Cavite City, Philippines to Emilia Manglicmot and Valentin Nunez. Her siblings include Catalina Nunez Paje (deceased), Eliseo Nunez (deceased), Erlinda Paje Dela Rosa, Leticia Paje Ladringan, and Clarita Paje Bacit (deceased). As the eldest of 6 siblings, she was responsible for caretaking of her younger siblings and assisting the family.
Dioscora met her husband, Florenio Recio Miclat, in Nagbunga, Castillejos, Zambales and got married on January 21, 1950. They moved to Olongapo City in 1961 where Florenio was working at the US Naval Base Subic Bay Philippines.
Dioscora was a caring, loving, and generous soul. She spent much of her time in volunteerism with her local church, she is known for her healing hands (“hilot”), cooking various cuisines but most notable for her famous pancit, loved gardening and the outdoors, watching Filipino movies & shows, listening to music, and traveling to many places with her family members. She was always ready for an adventure (“gala gala”) and making meaningful family traditions, which is being continued on by her children in the Philippines with their annual New Years celebration trip. She was a brilliant woman who excelled in mathematics and in her past time enjoyed board games & puzzles with her grandkids.
Dioscora is survived by her children Elizabeth Miclat Olaes (Edilberto), Yolanda Miclat, Florante N. Miclat (Vilma), Araceli Miclat Aballa, Brenilda Miclat Alvero (Danilo), Samuel Miclat (Susan), Florenio N. Miclat Jr. (Flor), George N. Miclat, Carlito N. Miclat (Penny), Ma. Dioscora Miclat. She was preceded in death by her husband Florenio Miclat, son Henrico Miclat, and son-in-law Efren Aballa. She has 21 grandkids, 19 great-grandkids, and 2 great-great-grandkids. She was surrounded with love by her Miclat family.
A visitation for Dioscora will be held Saturday, January 6, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Hardage-Gideon’s Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225, followed by a Celebration of Life from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Dioscora’s final resting place will be at Olongapo City Memorial Park in the Philippines alongside her beloved late husband Florenio (“Be”) Miclat, at a later date.
