Donald Ethan Hicks Sr, 79, native of Jacksonville passed away on Friday, December 10, 2010 surrounded by his family and friends. Born on July 28, 1931 in Jacksonville to Ethan Allen Hicks and Lydia Estelle Mattox. Don was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley LaVerne Hicks. Survivors include his sons, Donald E. Hicks Jr. (Kim) and David E. Hicks (Della); daughters, Valerie A. Reynolds (James) and Vickie L. Bielling (John); sister, Sandra Louise Milliken, brother, George Edward Hicks Sr., nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and many family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2010 in the Chapel of Town and Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd. with Pastor William Kincade officiating. Internment will be at Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Family request in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
