Dorothy Diana Temple age 72 of Jacksonville, FL passed from this world on 11-3-2024. She was born on 12-01-1951 to John O Yarbor and Dorothy M Yarbor.
Diana was a high school graduate and attended both Robert E Lee High School and Baker County High School.
Prior to a work related accident which left her disabled, Diana enjoyed working in the trucking industry as a dispatcher and secretary.
From childhood Diana played the piano and guitar. She sang in the school chorus, her church choir, and was part of a gospel group for many years. She often said that her parents “spoiled” her and she had a wonderful childhood.
Many trips to the Smoky Mountains with her parents and friends were favorite vacation memories for Diana. She also often talked about enjoying the beach and going to the jetties at Huguenot Park. Fishing with her parents and friends made Diana happy and it was said that she could catch fish even when no one else got a bite.
Though she had no children of her own, she loved children and dogs. The children of her neighborhood looked forward to seeing the elaborate holiday decorations in her yard, and seeing the colorful attire she and her dogs would be wearing for each occasion.
She was known for having a “green thumb,” and spent most of her days outdoors working in the yard with her plants. She said, “pulling weeds is calming.”
She and her mother, Dot, adored and spoiled their “ fur babies,” Candy, Sugar Sue, and Gizzy. Diana was an avid Gator fan and her dogs were often sporting orange and blue attire.
Reading her many Bible apps and listening to gospel music filled her final days.
Diana is survived by her cousin, Jewel Yarbrough; devoted neighbors and friends, Ralph McCrary, Tammy Holmes, and Eddie Wright; Elonda Holmes and Anari Troutman who she called her “God nieces.”
Diana was preceded in death by her father, John Yarbor, mother, Dot Yarbor , a younger sister named Gloria who passed at childbirth, and her grandmother, Laurie Yarbrough Kirkland.
A graveside service for Dorothy will be held Monday, November 11, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
