Doyle Henry Smith, 71 passed away December 8, 2012. He was born August 18, 1941 to the late Ruby Louise and Ernest Lee Smith in Douglas, GA. He graduated from Jacksonville University and was a NFPA Certified Marine Chemist for 49 years. As owner of Southern Marine Chemists, Inc., he provided marine chemist inspections aboard various types of vessels in Jacksonville and surrounding areas.
He proudly served as Chairman of the Marine Chemist Association and participated on various committees pertaining to the Marine Chemist profession.
He enjoyed attending and serving at The River at Jacksonville Church. The testimony of his intimate relationship with Jesus as his personal savior was an inspiration to many.
Family members include his wife Anita Smith, daughter Elizabeth (Mike) Reardon, son Adam (Scarlet) Tompkins, grandchildren Christopher, Shawn, Amanda, Matt, Jenny, Josh, Mike and Katie, great-grandchild Landon, siblings Mary Lou Tanner, Berlene (Brigham) Holcomb, Denney (Barbara) Smith, Ronnie (Doris) Smith and Karen (Steve) Smith. He is predeceased by his brother William Smith and brother-in-law, Bill Tanner.
