Evelyn S Strickland

Evelyn attended Robert E. Lee High School and graduated in 1958. She worked for various entities including Prudential Insurance, Trinity Christian Academy, Collins Road Christian Academy, Publix and the Life Care Center of Orange Park.

She attended church faithfully and claimed that she was a Baptist on the inside and a Methodist on the outside.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her ever expanding extended family. Her second greatest joy was sharing her love with her many dogs over her lifetime.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Sweat Sr. and Katherine Sweat, and her brothers Robert Sweat Jr. and Ronald Sweat. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 64 years, Kenneth Strickland Sr., four children, Kenneth Strickland, Jr. (Holly), Katherine Rodriguez (Elaine), Julie Ferris (Don), and Carol Tompkins (Greg). She also leaves behind thirteen (13) grandchildren and twenty-two (22) great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Life Care Center of Orange Park and to Dr. Neel Karnani and Community Hospice for their excellent end of life care.

A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023 at the Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Boulevard. The public viewing and visitation with the family will be at 1pm with the funeral beginning at 2pm, immediately followed by interment at the adjacent Riverside Memorial Park.
