

Gareth C. Maroon, 63 of Callahan, FL, passed away on April 20, 2013. He was born in Highland, IL. on February 9, 1950, to Esther Kimbro and Clarence F. Maroon. Gary graduated High School, joined the Navy, and married his sweetheart Mary Callahan in Jacksonville in 1985. He proudly served and retired from the United States Navy. Gary enjoyed many careers in his lifetime, including farming, trucking, FRCSE-Dept of Defense and career Navy where he won countless awards for structural repair and high achievement goals. He attended First Baptist Church of Boulougne, and was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, Moose International and was one of the charter members of the Classic Country Dancers. Gary took pride in anything he did. He was known by many for his knowledge and expertise in building and construction, as well as land development. Gary loved to dance and travel, but his greatest joy was his family, and especially his grandchildren. He was a loyal friend and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. In turn, he was blessed with many lifetime friends. Gary will be remembered for his loving heart, kind smile and determining spirit. He will be sorely missed by all. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Mary Maroon, son; Biff Maroon, father, Clarence F. Maroon, sisters Donna Ingram of Inola, OK and Jessie Brown of Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren; Emma Maroon and Evan Maroon and dozens of close friends. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home located at 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jax.FL 32205. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 5:00-7:00pm in the chapel. Inurnment services with full military honors will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jax., FL 32218 on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 2:30 pm.
