
George Edward Palmer 3rd passed away on August 3rd, 2025 in Jacksonville, Florida after a brief illness. George was born on June 8th, 1933 in Ownings Mills, Md. He was the son of George Edward Palmer Jr and Virginia May (Isenberg).
George grew up in Ferndale, Md with his brother John Frederick. George loved sports, especially baseball and golf. He was a die-hard fan of the Baltimore Orioles and as a true Baltimore native he loved crabs and beer. George attended elementary school in Ferndale and graduated from Glen Burnie High School. He played on the high school baseball and basketball teams. George was a born salesman, who worked most of his career with Liggett and Myers tobacco co. He sold cigarettes to Military bases in Maryland, Virginia and Delaware, as well as worked on the Baltimore waterfront.
George was drafted in the Korean War and served proudly in the Army with the 10th infantry Mountain division. He was a member of the local VFW and the Elks and Moose clubs in Maryland. George attended Ft. Caroline Methodist church in prior years with his beloved wife Nancy (Schamel). He was married for 56 years, and they enjoyed playing golf together and caring for the grandchildren.
George is predeceased by his parents George Edward Palmer Jr and Virginia May (Isenberg), his wife Nancy Lee (Schamel) and his brother John Frederick Palmer. Geroge is survived by his daughter Cynthia Lee Cummings (Frank Cummings), grandsons, Kyle Edward Sorensen and Christopher Neal Sorensen and great-grandsons James Christopher Sorensen and Jack Carter Sorensen.
His Service will be on Saturday, August 9th at 10am at Chapel Hills cemetery at 850 St. John’s Bluff Rd N. Jacksonville, Fl. 32225. The service will be presided over by Pastor Dale Brooks of Deermeadows Baptist church. In lieu of flowers, any donations may be made to Community Hospice of Jacksonville, Florida or the Jacksonville Humane Society.
