

Helen Harris Black (Faye), 85, was called home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida. Faye was born on October 19, 1940, in Jacksonville, Florida. She graduated from Andrew Jackson in 1959. Following high school, she began working for the Duval County Courthouse in the permits department, where she later met her late husband, Winston Black. After marrying Winston, Faye became a stay at home mother and raised her three beautiful girls. She loved to travel, having been to 45 out of 50 states in the continental United States. Faye was also know to be an avid reader as you could always find her with a good book in her hand. She was a proud child of God and an active member of her church, North Jacksonville Baptist, prior to falling ill. She was very active in her family's lives. She attended sporting events, dance recitals, and so much more.

She was preceded in death by her husband Winston Black, her parents, Woodrow "Woody" and Hazel Harris, her brother Wayne Harris, and her sister Wanda Newman. She is survived by her sister Marsha (Larry) and her brother-in-law Bobby. As well as her children, Janine, Renaye, and Missy (Chris). Her grandchildren, Mitch (Rachael), Dustin (Monica), PJ, Courtney, Colby (Juliana), Cristyn (Zac), and Caitlyn (Kyle). As well as her great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Joseph, Tristan, Gavin, Juliette, Kaleb, CJ, Koa, Ivy, Cecelia, Blakely, Abigail, Colton, Cori, and Cove.

A joint memorial service for both Winston and Faye will be held at a later date, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. We would like to say a very special thank you to the staff of Haven Hospice, who took great care of Faye until the very end. Faye was very well educated and loved to tell her children and grandchildren stories. She will be remembered for always being someone you can count on and who will always show up when you call on her.
