Howard Grady Wood, 80, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born Sunday, January 13, 1935 to James Manning Wood and Belle McFall Wood in Blue Ridge, SC. Howard was a veteran of Army 101st Airborne division. He was a hard worker and loved truck driving as he was a truck driver most of his life. Howard was the owner of Dixie & Piedmont Express Trucking. He also loved racecars and racing. He was always there to help his children out. Howard is preceded in death by his parents, one brother George Manning Wood, one sister Doris W. Price, and one son Vernon Wood. He is survived by 6 children, Reggie Wood,Dell Wood, Johnnie Wood, Jackie Emerson, Katie Harris, Jake Wood, two sisters Elizabeth J.W. Kemp from Ashville, NC, Lula Belle W. Anderson and one brother James Lewis Wood Greer from SC. The burial will take place on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 2:30pm at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32218.
