

Jack Dewey Posey, 83, passed away June 2, 2017 in Orange Park, Florida. Jack was the son of Corine (Perkins) and Alfred Dewey Posey. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Chester Posey and Ira Ernest Posey and his sisters Jewel Alma (Posey) Poppell, and Betty Laura (Posey) Norris.
He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 60 years, Katie Posey; children, Karen (Posey) & husband Ron Meeks, Dewey Scott & wife Jayne Posey, and Kevin Posey; grandchildren, Justin & wife Christina Posey, Kathy (Meeks) & husband Mike Soucy, Christina (Meeks) & husband Wayne DeGeorge; Zachary & wife Jennifer Posey, Amanda Posey, Shayna Posey, Kayla Posey, Kylar Posey; great-grandchildren, Logan Posey, Nolan DeGeorge & Tristan Soucy; as well as his sisters, Linda Elizabeth (Posey) Land, Margie (Posey) Tench and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack and Katie were fortunate to have shared their 60th wedding anniversary just 45 minutes before his passing. Jack was happy that he shared his birth date on January 8, with Elvis Pressley. He was honorably discharged from the Marines after being involved in the Korean conflict. He held many jobs in his working career including delivery driver and retail sales, and spent many years in the lumber and building materials industry.
Jack was easy going and loved his family. He especially loved rocking all his grandbabies and great grandbabies to sleep. He loved to sing and strum on his guitar and was strong in his Christian faith. He was a long time member of Lake Shore United Methodist Church and often volunteered with the Men’s group and in the Thrift Store until he became ill. Jack was a real handyman in the neighborhood. He spent many days tinkering in his backyard workshop and loved making decorative items out of scraps of wood and other house hold items. Fishing was one of his favorite past times whenever he got the chance. He spent many weekends building and enjoying a small fishing cabin on a nearby lake. He will be fondly remembered by family, friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be held from 1:00pm-2:00pm on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm. Entombment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
