Jacquelyn “Jackie” Ouzts Halligan passed away on August 27, 2020 at her Daughter’s home in Green Cove Springs, FL. She was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, FL. She was born on July 13, 1927 to Malissa and Ira Ouzts. After attending Stanton High School, Jackie began her career at Florida National Bank. She remained at Florida National Bank for over 36 years, with the occasional leave of absence to bring her children into the world.
Jackie met Richard Halligan in the late 1940’s. Ironically, she was dating a friend of his and he was the chauffer on their date. After meeting Jackie, he said she was the one he would marry, On November 11, 1950, he did just that. They remained happily married for over 50 years.
Jackie was a Charter member of Lakeshore Baptist Church. She regularly attended morning and evening services on Sundays, in addition to teaching Sunday School and attending Wednesday services. Although her declining health prevented her from attending the past few years, she remained a faithful member.
Jackie was preceded in death by her Husband Richard, her Son Jack, her Mother Malissa and Father Ira, as well as siblings Anne Garcia, W.A. Ouzts, Billy Ouzts, and Juanita Johnston. She is survived by her Daughter Patricia Wilson (Bobby), her Son Richard Halligan (Dottie), her Grandson Robert Wilson (Leigh) and her Great Grandchildren Bodhi and Addison.
The family would like to thank the Community Hospice team for their support over the past months. In addition, a very special “Thank You” to the ladies of “Team Jackie” at Sunrise Assisted Living, and to our Atlanta family, the Garcia’s.
