James Thurman Ferguson ”Papa” 83 years young passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013. Jim was born in Nashville, Tennessee to Carl Ferguson and Mary Bryant. He is predeceased by his wife and love of his life Mary Ferguson. Jim is survived by sister; Carlene Ferguson, brother; David Ferguson; step-daughter; Paula Staier, grandchildren; Peaches Jackson (Patrick), Mikael Staier, Joseph Staier, and Candace Cieslo, great-grandchildren; Ashley Maynard and Chase Jackson, nieces; Misty Nelson and Marianne Nelson. Chief Boatswains Mate Ferguson was the recipient of: The Vietnam Campaign Medal, The Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, The Europe Navy Occupation Medal and 6 Good Conduct Awards. He had a distinguished Naval career as an Oceanographic Specialist. He held various positions as well; Supervisor of Driver’s license department, bail bondsman, and bounty hunter. Papa enjoyed upholding the law. He loved his country, family, fishing, debating politics, and crossword puzzles. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home located at 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jax. FL. 32205. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 12:00-2:00 pm. Graveside service will begin at 2:00 pm at Riverside Memorial Park.
