Mr. James “Jimmie” Wesley Smith passed away November 1, 2009. He was born in Callahan, Florida and moved to Fernandina Beach in 1987 and was a lifelong resident of Florida. Mr. Smith retired from General Motors, Electromotive Division after 27 years service as a machinist. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard Allen and Carrie Elizabeth (Keen) Smith; three brothers: Lee, Fred and Lester Smith; two sisters: Florence Rowell Dye and Jen Carroll. Mr. Smith is survived by his loving and caring wife of 69 devoted years, Etta Mary Smith; two daughters: Brenda (Carol) Lanoux and Bonnie (John) Vaughan; six grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday November 3, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted by friend and minister Larry Paulk, November 4, 2009 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel+. Interment will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
