Janice Marie Vath

Janice Marie Wynens Vath (Jan), 65, of Jacksonville, FL passed away very suddenly Friday morning, July 8, 2016. Jan was born in Jacksonville, FL on August 3, 1950. She was a 1968 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and received her Medical Assistant and Hair Stylist certificates from Florida Junior College. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Grace Wynens. She was the widow of Jacksonville police officer, Dennis Vath.

Jan was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother (Mimi). She was past president of the Lake Shore Women’s Club. She enjoyed homemaking, house decorating, and all the activities of her beloved Tyler and Jaelynne. Jan had a way of making everyone love her. She would light up a room just by her presence and demeanor. Her love and caring for other people was evident in her personality. She loved to laugh, to create, and she really loved her Jack Russells, Tebow, and Gracie. She always looked her best and just a phone call from her would brighten your day. A very positive person who maintained friendships from her grade school days. She loved popsicles, popcorn, and snap, crackle, pop cereal.

Jan was a self-employed hairstylist in Jacksonville, for over 37 years. She survived by Alan Lesley of Jacksonville, FL; her son Jeffrey D. Roshong (Raquel) of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Lavone W Wichman (Ron) of Atlanta, GA and Yvonne W Harper of Alma, GA; her half brother Bill Thrasher (Peggy) of Wedowee, AL; Grandchildren, Tyler and Jaelynne Roshong of Yulee, FL; Step-Grandchildren, James Gurley and Stephanie Vega of Jacksonville, FL; Nephews R. Douglas Wichman, MD of Atlanta, GA and Timothy C Harper (Mandy) of Alma, GA; Nieces, Tammy Harper of Plano, TX and Melissa Garrett of Newnan, GA.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Thursday, July 14th. Service will follow at 11:00 am, with Reverend Noel Roberts will be officiating, in the chapel of Hardage-Giddens Town and Country, 7242 Normandy Blvd. Interment will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
