

Born May 3, 1929 in Lewisville, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Jasper Wiley Mock, Sr. and Anna Harper Mock. Jay had four brothers and four sisters. A long time resident of Jacksonville, Jay, his wife Lois and children moved here in 1958. Shortly after settling here they joined Southside Estates Baptist Church. Over the years, he built and raced both midget cars and stock cars. Jay also enjoyed watching a good baseball game. Most of all he loved his family and his greatest joy came from his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Mock is survived by his sons, Chip and wife Debbie, Randy and wife Catherine, Daughter-in-law, Wanda Mock (Terry); Grandchildren, Max Mock, Shannon Mock, Blake Putnal (Josh), Nikki Archila (Erick), Roger Mock and Jack Mock (Jessica); Great Grandchildren, Mason Putnal, Wyatt Putnal and Eva Archila; Brother, Fred Mock (Jo); numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois Faircloth Mock and his son, Terry Mock.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at eleven o’clock in the morning at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd. N., with the Rev. William Crook officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home.
