IN THE CARE OF
Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home & Riverside Memorial Park
Jeffrey Mitchell Deutch, age 77, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully
on Friday, April 18, 2025
Jeff was the cherished son of Marian Liebman (Graetz) and Samuel Deutch, and beloved stepson of Frances Ford Deutch. He grew up in Jacksonville, Miami, and Miami Beach. Jeff proudly attended Florida State University. He also was a cheerful and devoted worker at many jobs, including as a security guard and in the food service industry.
Jeff was an avid reader and an excellent writer. He was a real character and never one to sit on the sidelines of life. Jeff was outgoing, funny, and opinionated. He shared his considerable wisdom with a cheeky sense of humor and a smile that lit up the room. Jeff faced many challenges throughout his life, yet he was remarkably upbeat and inspired us with his positive attitude, strength, and resilience. May his memory be for a blessing.
Jeff is survived by a large blended family, including his sisters Lucy Graetz and Mira Graetz Ball, their children Risa, Daniel, Ariel and Rachel, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. His legacy of love will forever remain in the hearts of family and friends who had the privilege of knowing him.
We are grateful to Bishop Christian Home for the support and care provided to Jeff over many years, and especially Mary McGee, who Jeff fondly called “Mom.”
In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations in Jeff’s memory to be made to any organizations that support mental health initiatives.
A graveside celebration of Jeff’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida.
