John had a love of bad "B" movies, Dunkin Donuts coffee and 5-star restaurants. He was an athlete: playing basketball at Brookview, softball with Hogan Baptist, so many memories there, then at Restoration Church where he would meet Ryan. An adventure seeker in his younger days, racing (and crashing) ATV's, he found and developed a love for golf in his 20’s. For John, if it was worth doing, it was worth doing well. From his Dad, he learned to love poker, and together, they played in many tournaments through the years. John was always lucky.
He was a hard-working man who always provided for his family. He and Ryan were married June 27, 1998, and he was hired on with Southeast Toyota in July. It would turn out to be over 20 years of growing up with friends who became family all while planning for his family's future. John was a remarkable team builder who valued being "fair and consistent" throughout his career. He took his experiences from SET with him to Kuerig Dr. Pepper. John did his job with his whole heart. He was a man of integrity who was well respected, not because he demanded it, but because he earned it.
John was funny; he loved to laugh and joke, but mostly, he enjoyed "stirring the pot." He was faithful to his family, he loved to give extravagant gifts, he couldn't keep a secret and he will be missed more than words can say. After being a part of the family for over 20 years, when Ryan told him Nana Taylor had passed, he responded with "I'm sorry for your loss" and the room had no choice but to laugh. So, this is where I leave you, those who were blessed enough to know John Gearin, "I'm sorry for your loss."
Memorial service is scheduled for Friday, October 8, 2021 at 6:00 pm located at Restoration Church of God 1677 Southside Blvd. In lieu of flowers, love gifts can be directed to Venmo: @Gearin-Family
