John was a Military Veteran. After serving his country John joined the Teamsters Union, where he worked as a diesel mechanic for many years. John had a deep passion for traveling the country, and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. John especially enjoyed spending time with his family and many very special life-long friends.
John is survived by his wife of 41 years, Christina, his 5 children, Donna (Jimmy) Black, David (Brenda) Grimes, Christopher Grimes, Raymond Kleer, Jan Porter; 9 grandchildren, Brittany (TJ) Brown, Chelsea Grimes, John Grimes, Brandon Grimes, Christie Moore, Angel Grimes, Chancelor Kleer, Christina Porter, and Joshua Porter. John was preceded in death by his parents Doss and Erma Grimes; son William (Rusty) Kleer; grandchildren, Kristin Kleer Russell and Aaron Zipperer.
Funeral service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd. Family will greet friends at 2:00 pm for service to begin at 3:00 pm, with Pastor Gerald Felder officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1-800-242-8721. A celebration of John’s life will follow the service at: Cross Creek Steakhouse located at 850 Lane Ave. South.
