

John was born on February 3, 1942, in Huntington, West Virginia, to Harold and Leoda Hendershot. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he lived a life filled with faith, love, and service.
John proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Saratoga and in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis after which he dedicated his career to IT in the Civil Service at NAS JAX NADEP until his retirement. A loyal member of First Baptist Church of Orange Park, his faith was a guiding light in his life. He found great joy in spending time with his family, his friends, and his beloved grand-dogs, Sophie and Phoebe.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Katherin (O’Quinn) Hendershot; his sons, Michael Hendershot and Brian Hendershot (Sheryl); his grandsons, Brenton Williams (Gabrielle), Joshua Hendershot, and Jared Hendershot; his brother, Fred Hendershot; and his niece, Karissa Hendershot.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday April 8th from 6pm-8pm, and the service to honor John’s life will be held on April 9 at 10:00 AM at the Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park Pavillion, 1763 Memorial Park Road Jacksonville, Florida 32205. He will be laid to rest at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the service.
Flowers are welcome, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Orange Park in his memory.
John’s kindness, devotion, and unwavering love for his family and faith will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
