

John was a very proud veteran having retired as a DCCS from the Unites States Navy in 1971. Shortly after his retirement from the US Navy, his love of Naval Ships became readily apparent when he went to work for Atlantic Marine at Mayport and continued his employment there until his final retirement at 68 years of age. John loved God, his family, his country and the US Navy.
John was predeceased by his beloved son, John W. Rand, IV; his mother Magdaline Kurtz Rand, his father John W. Rand, II, his step-mother Anna Rand, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Mary and Antonio Maria, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nephews, and other extended family members.
He is survived by the love of his life, his best friend and his wife of 62 years, Alice T. Rand; his daughter and son-in-law Donna and Butch Weldon; his grandsons John Rand, V (Christine); John Weldon (Melissa); Michael Rand and his granddaughter Allison Hayes (Chris) and seven great-grandchildren Carissa, John and Elena Rand, Alyssa and Corey Hayes, Brandy and Amber Richter, three sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews and many other extended family members and dear friends.
Arrangements are under the care of Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills located 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd, N, Jacksonville, Fl. 32225 (904) 641-9755. Family will receive friends for visitation Monday, May, 12, 2014 from 6-8 pm at Chapel Hills. A funeral service will also be held at Chapel Hills on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11:00 am.
