Johnny was born to Claude and Jewel Watkins on July 3, 1953. He graduated from Fernandina Beach High School in 1971. He was later accepted into Local Union 234 Plumber and Fitters Apprentice Program where he graduated in 1981. He worked for WW Gay Mechanical for over 25 years. After leaving WW Gay, he went to work for E+V Professional Services as a Construction Manager. He retired in 2014.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gary and Terry Watkins.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Barbara; children, John Watkins Jr., Keela Watkins, Christopher (Chemene) Wilson, Karen (Greg) Gillen, Brian (Lacey) Wilson, Brooke (Mike) Corbitt; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Sherold (Sue) Watkins.
Johnny enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading and working in his backyard vegetable garden.
To know Johnny was to love him. Although he was not ready to leave this world, he was not afraid.
Revelation 21:4 " He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."
