Joyce Irene Powell, passed-away unexpectedly at the age of 83. She was born 1 February 1938 in Dayton, Ohio. In 1976, Joyce and family moved to Florida from Maine and had called Lakeland home ever since.
Joyce was proceeded in death by twin grandchildren, Emily and Jared Ruel and her husband of 34 years, Don Powell. Joyce leaves behind 4 children: Therese (Jay) Wilson of Tucson, AZ; Deborah (Craig) Olmschenk of Grayslake, IL; Jennifer Ruel of Jacksonville, FL, and Steve (Susan) Ruel of Jacksonville, FL. Also 6 grandchildren: Jason (Victoria) Wilson currently stationed in TX; Jeremy (Cassidy) Wilson of Spokane, WA; Danielle Olmschenk (Casey Weaver, fiancé) of Grayslake, IL; Cole Olmschenk currently stationed in South Korea; Eryn (Tyler) Williamson of Erie, PA and Olivia Ruel of Jacksonville, FL. Joyce also has 6 great grandchildren whom she immensely enjoyed. She also leaves behind her brother, Ed Cromer of Lake Placid, FL.
A memorial service is planned and will be held at Christ Memorial Baptist Church in Lakeland at a later date to be announced, where she was so welcomed. In lieu of flowers, Mom would love your donation to something close to her heart – the Military – thru this website: supportourtroops.org.
