

Julian William "Jukey" Cox, Jr., age 89, passed away peacefully December 12, 2017 in Orange Park, Florida. A life long resident of Jacksonville, Jukey was born on December 16, 1927 to Julian William Cox, Sr. and Emma Lee Cox. Jukey proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. After serving with the United States Navy, he pursued a career in business, achieving a presence within the Jacksonville community. A Shriner, Morocco Chapter 1975, member of the COJ Planning Commission 1982, and on to becoming President of the Westside Businessman’s Club 1983 and Northside Businessman’s Club 1988-1989. He was awarded the COJ Certificate of Appreciation in 1988, where he was recognized for his outstanding contribution and service to the community. A devoted Gator football fan, “Go Gators”, he served as Director of The Gator Club of Jacksonville in 1991. He also volunteered with The Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair; the Fright House being his favorite. Later he became known as "Mr. Bill", the greeter, at Sams Club on Youngerman Circle. He had a love for all things Christmas. Jukey was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Jukey was preceded in death in 2008 by his loving wife Janet "Booga" Cox. He is survived by his daughters Sandi St. Clair and Karen Cox; his granddaughters Christi Knowles (Mike), Victoria Broering (Tom), and Kimberly Perry (Mark); six great-grandchildren Connor, Claire, Ashton, Jack, Madison, T.J.; and many close friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
