He is survived by his wife Yadira Matthews, brother Donald Matthews, and daughters Chelsea Thrift, Jasmine Matthews and Heather Feuerbacher.
Those that knew Ken best called him “Bubba”! Aside from being a proud father, papa, husband, brother, son, and friend, he was a professional umpire for 13 years and owned his own lawn care business, going on to be an International Leader in Tahitian Noni Juice sales and retired top salesman in the Resort Industry.
His lifelong pride and joy was his Lake House. He loved creating beautiful designs with flowers and plants, cooking those good southern comfort foods in the kitchen, spending summers and weekends out on the lake in his boat, skiing, tubing, fishing, swimming. Most importantly, making memories with all his friends and family for 65 years.
Ken was preceded in death by his father Charles Matthews, mother Mary Bivins Matthews, brother Tommy Matthews and sister Joyce Matthews.
If it wasn’t for a late diagnosis on the cause of his heart failure, it’s possible we could have had Ken for many more years. While in the hospital on one of his many stays, he asked that when he passed to have friends and family make donations to the Amyloidosis Awareness Foundation in lieu of flowers.
A visitation for Kenneth will be held Friday, October 20, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A celebration of life will occur Friday, October 20, 2023 at 2:00 PM. A committal service will occur Friday, October 20, 2023 at 3:00 PM.
