

The Reverend Canon Lance Cameron Horne was born on April 6, 1945 in Gulfport, Mississippi and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. On April 28, 2026. He ended his mortal life and joyfully awaits his next assignment with the coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ!
He received his Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Naval Academy, Class of 68 in Annapolis, MD and his Master in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. He served in the U.S. Navy for 30 plus years and commanded the Portsmouth Nuclear Refueling Submarine Shipyard. He retired at the rank of Captain, U.S. Navy receiving the President’s Legion of Merit.
After retirement, Lance received his Master in Divinity from the Protestant Episcopal Theological Seminary in Virginia and served as Vicar and Rector in the Dioceses of Hawaii and Florida and was the Santa Fe Regional Canon to the Bishop of the Diocese of Florida. Father Lance was Vicar at St. Bartholomew’s in High Springs, FL since 2011.
Father Lance loved serving the Lord, and especially loved his church family. Many will recall his message “GOD IS GOOD” “ALL THE TIME!"
He was the predeceased by his parents Roger Bigelow Horne and Helen Leota (Cameron) Horne. Fr. Lance is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth, son Lance Jr., daughter, Suzanne, son Andrew Sr., son Zachariah and four grandsons, Ryan, Sean, Andrew Jr., John and his brother RADM Roger B. Horne Jr. (USN) Ret.
The Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 1:00 pm at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in High Springs, FL. The Committal Service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 12:30 pm in Jacksonville National Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL with Full Military Honors. All are welcome to attend.
