October 24, 1941 – May 20, 2026
It is with deep love and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Laurline Virginia Armstrong, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the age of 84. Laurie’s life was marked by kindness, strength, humor, and a steadfast devotion to her family, friends, and church.
Laurie was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on October 24, 1941. In 1953, at the age of 12, she relocated to Florida with her family. She met and married Dick in Jacksonville before moving to Rockledge in 1967, where she balanced raising three children with a successful career at Gannett Publishing Company. Laurie later retired to Callahan in 1996.
Outside of work, Laurie embraced life fully. When she wasn’t volunteering at her local Catholic church, she could often be found traveling across the United States in her RV or riding the most thrilling roller coasters. She was deeply devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly remember treasured trips to Six Flags over Georgia and Busch Gardens. Known for her generous spirit and quick wit, Laurie never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh.
Laurie is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Richard “Dick” Armstrong. She also leaves behind her siblings, Cynthia (Harry), Melissa (George), Louise, Darold, and James (Jan); her children, Christina (Scott), Debra (David), and Richard Jr. (Darlene); her grandchildren, Danielle (Adam), Katelyn, Heather (Allan), Jacob (Sarah), Megan (Zack), Chelsea, and Brooke; and her great-grandchildren, Billy, Ava, Jackson, Charlotte, Legend, Wyatt, Mason, and Hunter.
Laurie was preceded in death by her siblings, John, Theresa, and Irene.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Memory Gardens. Family and friends are warmly invited to stay for a light reception immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Laurie’s honor to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
