Lennox McDonald Smith, age 69, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Lennox was born Saturday, August 16, 1952 in Roseau, Dominica to Ivon and Alice Smith.
Lennox worked for Dominica Electric Services at the Power Plant - Fondcole for many years before he emigrated to America. He worked for Home Depot and retired from Circle K.
Family meant the world to Lennox, near and afar. He was a present father, helping his children with their homework, cheering them on in their sports, or spending quality time with them talking and laughing. He was forever devoted to his wife, Jennifer.
When Lennox was not at work, he was with his family. He was obsessed with politics and eager to debate. There was no conversation without the mention of politics in the house. He was an advocate for soccer, and he enjoyed playing with his son. He was fond of western and martial art films. Caribbean music, for him, was a home away from home. He would dance and sing around the house joyfully. His favorite artist was Jimmy Cliff. If it wasn't CNN, he could be seen watching Blue Bloods, Hawaii Five-O, or Blacklist. Sound of Music and Fiddler on the Roof were his favorite musicals. No matter what, his family came first.
Lennox was a devoted Catholic. He received his last rites hours before he drew his last breath.
Lennox is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer; his two daughters, Shola and Tennile Smith; his son, Tyler Smith; his mother and father-in-law, Janice and Joseph Chaney; his five brothers Arthur, Cuthbert, Carlton, Michael and Akim Smith; his two sisters, Joeanne and Maryanne Smith; as well as family, friends Gloria Cognet and Benson Benoit. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Justine Smith.
A memorial service for Lennox will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, Florida 32225, followed by a reception at 12:00 PM.
