Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth (Van Zant) McVeigh passed away on August 17, 2013. She was born on December 18, 1930 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a 1949 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and remained a lifelong resident of Jacksonville. Mrs. McVeigh was retired from the Duval County School Board where she was a secretary and retired as an auditor. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Mickey was a committed Christian, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She was a believer in American values and a true patriot. Known for her laugh and ability to bring humor into almost any situation, she will be missed by all. Mrs. McVeigh was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Howard Elvin McVeigh, and her two brothers and five sisters.She is survived by her three sons Howard (Marilyn), Robert (Laura), and Richard (Susan); grandchildren Brian McVeigh (Angie), Heather McVeigh Elliott (Bradley), Lindsey McVeigh Wiegmann (Brian), Jordan McVeigh Christian (Nicholas), Joshua McVeigh, Caleb McVeigh (Danielle), and Hannah McVeigh; and five great-grandchildren. Arrangements under the care of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. The family will greet friends and conduct a memorial service on Monday August 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Westside Baptist Church. Family requests donations to the Westside Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
