Marie Rooks Brinson

Marie was born in Jacksonville, Florida and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. In 1948 she married her high school sweetheart Kinsey Alex Brinson and they had been married for 65 years at the time of his death. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and GG. She was a life-long member of the West Jacksonville Advent Christian Church and she loved her church family dearly. She served as pianist and organist for many years and was actively involved in many other church ministries, including teaching Sunday School, teaching and directing Vacation Bible School and participating in the Women’s ministry group. She also loved playing the piano for chapel at His Kids Daycare. Marie loved to crochet and sew. She particularly enjoyed making baby quilts and gave countless numbers of these quilts as gifts. It was a very personal expression of her love for many families. She enjoyed gardening, fall trips to the mountains, and traveling with the Jolly 50’s.

Marie was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Kinsey Alex Brinson; her parents John Lloyd and Caroline (Carrie) F. Rooks; her brother Johnny Rooks and sister-in-law Lois Rooks; her niece Sharon Rooks Little; and her son-in-law Terry Peacock.

Survivors include daughters Nancy Peacock and Melanie Brinson Day (Terry); son David (Annette); grandchildren Brandon Housend (MeLisa), Powell Peacock (Leslie), Leslie Snyder (Kevin), Robert Peacock (Emily), Benjamin Brinson (Susan), Andrew Brinson (Sarah); great grandchildren Avery, Ansley Marie, Anderson, Addison and Axel Peacock, Owen and Noah Snyder, Kelsie Laster (Brad), Ellie Marie and Lorelei Housend, Matilda Marie Brinson; and nephew Richard Little.
