Mary Frances Stephens-Peterson

Mary Frances Stephens-Peterson, age 91, of Jacksonville passed away on September 8, 2013. Frances is preceded by her parents, Pauline Dickinson and L. R. Cooper, husband of 53 years Clayton F. Stephens, and then Arthur Peterson, and brother, Leon Cooper. She is survived by her loving and devoted children, Donnie (Cindy) Stephens, Scarlett Chauncey, and Greg Stephens, grandchildren, Stephanie Crutcher, Donald James Stephens, Jeffrey Stephens and Wendy Stephens, great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy, Lil’ Jeff Stephens, and Bryce Cox, and sister-in-law Dot Cooper. Frances was a graduate of Robert E. Lee Senior High School in 1940. She was a member of the Murray Hill United Methodist Church for over 70 years. Frances was a giving person. She never met a stranger and always gave of herself with love and time. Many years were spent volunteering at Riverside Hospital and visiting local nursing homes with her church choir. Frances enjoyed gardening and always having a smile to share. She will be remembered for her love of family, kind heart, and determining spirit.

Family will receive friends and family from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013 at Hardage- Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32205. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 at the funeral home. Officiating the services will be Dr. Pamela Hall of Murray Hill Methodist Church. Interment will follow the funeral services at Riverside Memorial Park located at 7242 Normandy Blvd Jax., FL 32205.
