Who was Apostle Michael Grant…
Michael was a silent trendsetter in many ways. He never met a stranger, was kind to everyone he met and rarely spoke about the past. Although quite stubborn at times would listen to reason and logic. When he spoke about the past he mentioned how life was growing up in the segregated south. Also, how he had a hard life being on his own at a very young age and finding his way in life from being in the streets; to putting away the street life mentality. He moved around starting as a small seed in Alabama, then put roots down in Georgia and ended in Florida as a stable tree.
Michael’s interest in spreading the Word of God came after a near death experience in the late ‘70s when he was almost killed when gunned down by robbers. He used to say, “The street life brought me to Christ, and I never turned back afterwards.” He used to be home during the day with his kids and worked third shift as a cook and a cleaner before committing his entire life as a minister of Christ. He was a world traveler and although usually perceived to be stern, he was kind and gentle. Michael was a man’s man and loved college sports, black and white western shows and watching any of the law and order tv series. Apostle took his commitments seriously and was very regimented. If he said he was going to do something he ensured that he completed that tasks to the best of his abilities. For instance, he taught preachers, facilitated the men’s fellowship group and mentored many others.
Michael had impeccable taste and was very meticulous, not only in his dress, but also in his actions. He had a strong sense of social responsibility and would intervene if injustice was being witnessed. Although, his body was going through trials and tribulations over the past few years his spirit never wavered and he never complained, which is something most admire. His legacy lives on because he touched so many with his words, love and kindness.
Funeral arrangement will be held at 11:00 am on March 9, 2021 at 3920 Old Middleburg Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32210.
