Michael was a Terry Parker high school graduate and would later go on to be employed at AMI and BAE shipyards. For ten years he was the owner and operator of Offshore Marine Components in partnership with his brother and wife. He was a Chicago Cubs fan, a WWII buff, a little league baseball coach, a local softball and baseball player, guitar enthusiast, a second degree black belt in Taekwondo, a lifelong surfer, a rededicated Christian and an avid concert goer. Michael also had an extended understanding of politics and history, kept a close watch on any major bigfoot sightings and was the greatest fan of his son's and his daughter's activities and achievements.

He is survived by his mother; Sharon McGee, his wife of 34 years; Myra McGee, brothers; John and Daniel McGee (Jean), sister; Amanda McGee, son; Adrien Francis, daughter; Maggie Joy, pups; Billie and Maddie, and a cat; Miss Kitty.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to MD Anderson for the care and treatment of Michael's glioblastoma.
