

Miklos (Mike) Kovacs passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018, he was 80 years old. He was born on February 18, 1938 in Kecskemet, Hungary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sandor and Terezia Kovacs of Kecskemet, Hungary and his infant son Jozsef Miklos Kovacs.
He is survived by his wife of 49 loving years, Carolyn C. Kovacs (Griffis), son Miklos (Miki) J. Kovacs Jr. (Susan), daughter Michelle C. Longdon (James), five grandchildren Mallory, Mason, and Mia Kovacs, William Crowe, and Wesley Longdon, brother Tamas Kovacs (Icu), sister, Agnes Kovacs, nephew Tamas Kovacs (Monika), niece Rita Maray, and three grandnieces and two grandnephews.
Mike enlisted in the United States Army in Frankfurt, Germany on February 4, 1958, and was honorably discharged as a SP4 E4, after 5 years, earning a Good Conduct Medal, Marksman, and Expert Rifle M-14 awards. He proudly became a United States Citizen in 1962.
He was a Journeyman Electrician with IBEW #177 and received his 50-Year pin in 2018. He was employed with Miller Electric Company from 1967 to 1990 and Anheuser Busch from 1990 until his retirement in 2001. He continued to work part-time with Anheuser Busch until his passing. In retirement, he loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, watching NASCAR, football, soccer, and cycling. He was a true patriot, faithful and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
Due to no graveside service, in lieu of flowers, the family is asking to make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his honor.
