Nancy Lou Waters, age 77 of Jacksonville, Florida passed away June 19, 2023. She was born in Gurley, Alabama where she spent her early childhood living on a dairy farm. When she was 10, she moved to Jacksonville with her family where she remained for the rest of her life.
After high school, she worked at the A & P Bakery on the westside of Jacksonville where is was common for her to bring donuts home to her children. She eventually found herself working in the medical field as a medical assistant and ultimately, the office manager for a large medical practice. At age 47, she attended Florida Community College of Jacksonville where she obtained her LPN license. Shortly thereafter, she officially began her career as an LPN with a local hospital. She loved her new career and loved her patients even more. In 2009, she received the honor of being recognized in the “Who’s Who of Nursing”.
While Nancy loved bowling, playing Scrabble, gardening and spending time with her friends and family, her true loves were her grandchildren. Of all of the names she was ever called, Nana was her favorite.
Nancy’s life was not without it’s challenges, but she always found a way to face them with strength and grace.
