Patricia Menser Stokes went home to be with the Lord on January 8, 2024 in Jacksonville, Florida. Patricia was born in Jacksonville, FL on August 16, 1956 to the late Betty Jewell (Lockwood) and Robert Lloyd Menser, Sr.
Patricia worked for Winn Dixie stores for over 25 years as a cashier and in the bakery and deli departments, before changing careers in the spring of 1998 at the age of 41 and becoming a driver for Greyhound Bus Lines where she drove for about 10 years. After Greyhound, she drove for a charter bus company and then retired from work as a public-school bus driver. Patricia felt immensely loved and incredibly grateful for the kindness and devotion shown to her during her final weeks by friends made during her Greyhound and school bus driving careers and the family is especially appreciative for the care and compassion you showed to our mother. She loved the Georgia Bulldogs football team and exemplified the gift of hospitality, making everyone she met feel special and loved. She was an amazing cook and loved to see her family and friends sit down together for a meal or a special dish prepared by her hands. She had a huge heart and always looked for the best in others.
Patricia is predeceased by her parents and eldest brother Kenneth Wayne Menser. She is survived by older brothers Robert (Bobby) Menser Jr. and Gary Menser; her daughters Katina Stokes and Stephanie Miller (Tony); son Larry Stokes (Faith); grandsons David (Bubba) Currin, Jr and Tristan Miller; granddaughters Hayley Stokes, Lacey Stokes, and Charlotte Miller; and great-granddaughter Keigan Molina; as well as a great number of extended family members.
Services to celebrate Patricia’s life will include a visitation at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home on Monday, January 15 from 5 – 7pm and a memorial service at Normandy Park Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 16 at 11 am, followed by a graveside service at Riverside Memorial Park. A reception will be held immediately after the graveside service at Normandy Park Baptist Church. Friends and family are invited to attend.
