Patsy Sue Carrigg, 81, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by the love and laughter of her family — just the way she would have wanted it.
Born on February 2, 1944 in Jacksonville to the late Boy E. O'steen and Mildred Marie Skaggs, Patsy would spend her lifetime in Jacksonville, FL where she would meet the love of her life, Leon Carrigg. Leon and Patsy were married on July 18, 1959. Together they built a life they were immensely proud of and created a large, loving family who will miss her tremendously.
Patsy’s greatest joy was her family, and she never missed a chance to be with them. She is survived by her children: Tuffy (Paula) Carrigg, Glynn Ray (Kim) Carrigg, Gayla Markham, and Michele (Michael) Smith; her siblings: Bug (Joan) O'Steen, Harold (Kathy) O'Steen, and Sharon (Glenn) Goodroe; her grandchildren: Kellie (Matthew) George, Kevin (Jacy) Carrigg, Keri (Randall) Pringle, and Robin (Gene) Rogers; and her great-grandchildren: Aspen, Hanna, Pressley, Ruby, Opal, Autumn, and Jasper and a host of nieces and nephews — each of whom brought her endless pride and joy.
She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Leon Carrigg; her granddaughter, Shelby Smith; and her sister, Betty Smith.
Patsy loved gardening, shopping, and spending time with family. She enjoyed camping and get togethers with her friend circle that she loved dearly. Her love was the kind you could feel in the room — warm, genuine, and often followed by sweet smile and big hug. She had a way of making you feel like she'd known you forever.
Her family asks that in honor of Patsy, you hug your loved ones a little tighter, plant something beautiful, and never forget to say: Love you, mean it.
A private family gathering for immediate family will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 9:30AM, followed by a public viewing at 10:00AM and the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Shindler Drive Baptist Church 7100 Shindler Drive Jacksonville, FL 32222. Patsy will be laid to rest 1:00 PM August 12, 2025 at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park.
