Paul was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on August 14, 1945. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, Class of 1964.
Paul was married to Rebecca J. Newman (Houston) on April 9, 1980. They have celebrated 35 wonderful years of marriage.
Paul retired from the City of Jacksonville after 32 years of service with the Parks and Recreation Department. He enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching baseball. If he could help it, he never missed any of his children’s or grandchildren’s baseball games. He was actively involved with Highlands Little League for many years. He cherished every second spent with his friends and family. After being lovingly referred to as Santa Claus by his family, he decided to take up a new hobby; appearing as Santa Claus for multiple events during the Christmas Season. He loved making children smile.
Paul is survived by his two children, Cybil A. Long, and Paul F. Newman II (Regina); his 6 grandchildren, Delen, Scott, Brandon, Brittany, Zane, and Ryne; 1 great grandchild, Vanessa; his brother, Ted Newman; many nieces and nephews; and the rest of his relatives and friends.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Ted T. Newman and Emma C. Newman (Steinbock); as well as his sister, Jeannie Scott.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the family to assist with funeral arrangements. The entire Newman family wishes to thank their friends and family for their tremendous outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
