Reverend Phillip Combs, age 73, passed away surrounded by his loving family and friends on July 26, 2017. Phillip along with his wife Mary built several companies in Jacksonville. Phillip never wanted any credit for anything; he always wanted the honor and glory to go to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for any accomplishments. He and his wife, who took care of his every need to the very end, built Mary's Wholesale Furniture and Mary's Imports, which they sold three years ago. Phillip loved Jesus, his family, and his country. He served his country in the United States Army for eight years serving a tour in Germany. Phillip and Mary were what a married couple should strive to be; they were always holding hands and blowing kisses after fifty-two years of marriage.
Phillip leaves behind his loving wife of fifty-two years, Mary; two sons John (Katie) and Rick; five grandchildren, which he adored, Cayla, Jenny, Chase, Leon, and Savannah; his brothers-in-law Sam (Missy), who he loved like a brother, and Lee (Gayle); brothers Eugene (Cindy), Ray (Linda Sue), Tommy (Doris); sisters Verna Dean (Billy) and Ferrell; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Lane Avenue Church of God, 2956 Lane Avenue North. Visitation will be held beginning one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Reverend Steve DuBose and Reverend Thomas Batts will serve as officiants.
Rest in the arms of Jesus and I will meet you soon by the moon just as we always planned.
HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVERSIDE MEMORIAL PARK AND FUNERAL HOME, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, is serving the family.
