

He was born on January 7, 1932 in Caguas, Puerto Rico to Daniel Lamboy and Petrona Lopez. At age 19, while being a member of the National Guard, the U.S. Army drafted him. He served 21 years in the U.S. Army which included two tours in Korea during the Korean War. While in Korea he served with the 65th Infantry Regiment, known as The Borinqueneers. After Korea, he was stationed in several bases throughout the US. These were adventurous years for him and his family. He also completed several tours in Germany. He retired in 1972 and went home to Puerto Rico, where he joined his family. In 1975, he moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where he worked with NARF at NAS Jacksonville. He worked in a Civil Service role in electronics, communications programming and repairing. He retired from his Civil Service in 1989. In 2016, he attended a ceremony in Kissimmee FL, along with many other compatriots, receiving the Borinqueneers Congressional Gold Medal awarded for his service in Korea.
Raimundo, known to many as Dario or Ray, but to all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren he was Lelo. He lived a humble life and was passionate about his family and helping others. He had many interests ranging from electronics, auto mechanics, construction, farming, and even cooking. He loved fixing anything that was broken. He had great curiosity and was serious in learning about anything, especially how something was made or built. He loved using Google for just about any topic. There was no stone he would leave unturned to assist any person, especially his family. He had the kindest heart and wanted to make sure others did, too. He enjoyed contributing to local charities, City Rescue Mission and The Salvation Army. He was a true patriot and loved serving the United States of America and his homeland, Puerto Rico.
He is reunited with his wife, Ana V. Lamboy, who predeceased him in 2012. Also, predeceased by granddaughter Jamille in 1992. He is survived by seven children; Sons, Ray Lamboy and wife Carmen Lamboy, Edwin Lamboy and wife Kendra Mirrop-Lamboy, Michael Lamboy and wife Lisa Lamboy, and Jonathan Lamboy and wife Hollie Lamboy. Daughters; Vilma Reed and husband Mark Reed, Wanda Rodriguez and husband Gil Rodriguez, and Yolanda Byers and husband Marc Byers. Nineteen grandchildren; Javier (Serita), Danielle, Carly, Amy, Natalie (Matt V.), Gil E. (Kelsie), Jolie Marie, Candace (Ryan), Sean (Alex B.), Edwin Jr. (Sunni), Rushelle (Matt A.), Bryan, Alex, Christopher, Selena (Drew), Cooper and Finley. Fourteen great grandchildren; Braylon, Ameera, Raiya, Natalia, Faith, Callie, Thatcher, Dakota, Evie, Josiah, Alivia, Declan, Bronson and Morgan. He found great joy in animals, especially dogs. He loved Britzy, Fluffy, Spot, Selah, Joey, LuLu, Machete among others.
Those who knew Raimundo will continue to honor and love him by following in his footsteps, long after this obituary is forgotten.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. A visitation from 11:00 AM, funeral service at 12:00 PM. Burial to follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
