

Rick was a graduate of Cardinal Newman High School (’74), Palm Beach Jr College (’76) and Florida Atlantic University (‘78) where he earned his degree in accounting. Rick moved to Jacksonville in 1978 where he began his accounting career first at Winn-Dixie then at PGA Tour. After 13 years, he retired from PGA Tour at the end of December.
Rick was passionate about sharing the love of our Lord with others. He was a devout Catholic who was a Eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and an active member of the St Vincent de Paul Society. He was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Carol (Culler) Guethle, aunt, Jeanne Guethle, and niece, Crystal Prokopy-Joseph. He is lovingly survived by his siblings, Joseph Guethle of Belle Glade FL, Jeanne (Tom) Woosnam of Fairlawn OH, Nancy (Wayne) Prokopy of Ocala FL, and Joyce Guethle of Ocala FL; as well as his niece, Dawn Prokopy of Ocklawaha FL, nephew, Paul (Erika) Prokopy of Anthony FL, great-nephews, Malachi Dillard and Leonardo Prokopy, and all those touched by his remarkable life.
Visitation will be Monday, March 3, 2025, from 5-7:00pm at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville. The funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5752 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville; reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
