

Richard “Dick” McGuire, 90, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 15, 2013. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born near Bainbridge, GA, on May 28th, 1923 and moved to Jacksonville in 1932. He served in the South Pacific with the 5th Air Force during WWII. He was a member of the 14th Air Sea Rescue Squadron. After the war he worked in the restaurant business most of his life. He worked at the Amber House Restaurant for over 20 years for Joe Namey later buying the restaurant. He gave his heart to Jesus in March 2000. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his father Jake McGuire, his mother Minnie Adams, a sister Ruby Marjenhoff and daughter Kimberly Colleen McGuire. Dick is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy and his children Michael McGuire(Pennie), Patti Taylor (Rick), Kevin McGuire (Sylvia), Cindy Wright(Norman) and Elizabeth McGuire-Prim (Gary), 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, a niece Vera Magaldi, ,sisters, Dorothy Gay, Doris Bowen (Wayne) and Glenda Busby. He loved animals, he loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A celebration of his life will be at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home: Visitation will be on Sunday, (Today) from 3-5 PM, The Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel on Monday with burial following in Chapel Hills Memory Gardens.
