She was born in Jacksonville, FL on March 19, 1946. Was a graduate from Robert E Lee High School in 1959. Worked for and retired from Southern Bell/Bell South/AT&T while raising three rambunctious boys in Jacksonville. After living in multiple areas in the northeast Florida area and on the St Johns River south of Palatka, her final residence was in St. Augustine, FL, her favorite place.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, JW “Jack” Smyth and son Michael Smyth. She is survived by her sons Stephen (Maria), and Robert (Danese), 6 grandchildren – Amanda Smyth, Blake Smyth (Sabrina), Jason Smyth (Cassie), Michael Smyth (Heather), Layci Wright (David) and Jennifer Havlicek (Brad), step grandchildren Christopher Lettow (Lindsey), Carol Vickers (Tommy) and a total of 19 great and step great grandchildren.
She was an avid gardener. Nurturing lots of flowers, trees and shrubs. She really loved her orchids and Christmas cactuses and had two of the biggest bottle brush bushes known to the family. She loved the Great Smokie Mountains and went often, which lead to buying a cabin there. Loved to sit and watch the birds come to the bird feeder from her window and the deer that she fed while living in Baldwin. She loved to read. In the latter part of her life, she was a fan of thrift shops. Hopping in the car with which ever friend was around to go thrifting.
A private memorial service will be held with the family at a reunion.
