

Robert H. “Bob” Friedman, 75, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away suddenly from natural causes on December 23, 2011. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Lucinda Friedman, infant daughter Terri, and sister June Porter. Bob is survived by the mother of his children Shirley Creech; daughters Linda Powers (Mark) and Laurie Dominy (Jerry), son; Dean Friedman (Karen); grandchildren Mandy Pippin (Ricky), Melissa Berbenick (Marc), Jared, Jordan and Sierra Friedman; great-grandchildren Kailey, Aubrey, Emery, and Kiery Pippin.
Bob was born on October 1, 1936, in Indianapolis, Indiana, but lived the majority of his life in Jacksonville. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1954. He married Shirley Noles, the mother of his children, in 1955; they were married for 48 years. Bob served in the Air Force from 1955 to 1959. Following his military service, he pursued a career as an insurance adjuster and claims manager, working many years for Allstate Insurance Company, as well as Sewell, Todd and Broxton. He was honored with numerous awards throughout his career.
Bob became a pilot in 1958 and had a lifelong passion for aviation. He was also a sports enthusiast, playing softball, basketball, and tennis, and enjoyed watching football games. He was a loving father and “Granddaddy” and will be greatly missed.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 pm.
